Thank you for reporting a dead bird. Your report provides crucial information for our mosquito control program.
Not all dead birds are candidates for testing. Your report will be screened and forwarded to the District for pickup if certain criteria are met (the dead bird program is operated by the California Department of Public Health). Regardless of whether or not a bird can be tested, all reports are valuable because we use them to map and identify potential West Nile virus risk areas.
Reports can be made by phone (877) WNV-BIRD (968-2473) or online.
During the months of November through March, all requests must be made through the California Department of Public Health's online system only (while we do not pick up dead birds for testing during these months, we encourage people to file an online report). Thanks again for doing your part to help protect public health. Your efforts help keep our communities healthy.
